PROGRAM OUTLINE
PROGRAM: MASSAGE THERAPY, OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSES:
TO EDUCATE QUALIFIED STUDENTS TO BECOME HIGHLY SKILLED PROFESSIONALS IN MASSAGE THERAPY. SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON MASSAGE BODY MECHANICSSM , HOLISTIC MASSAGESM, AND MODALITIES THAT BENEFIT THE CAREER OPPORTUNITY OF THE THERAPIST.
MODULE I CORE (255 hours)
Swedish Massage Therapy (MT 1) - 125 hours
Human Anatomy and Physiology (AP 1) - 75 hours
Hydrotherapy (HY 1) - 20 hours
Business Practices & Professional Ethics (BP 1) - 15 hours
Human Health and Hygiene (HH1) - 20 hours
MODULE II CLINIC (50 hours)
Clinical Internship (CI 1) - 50 hours
MODULE III EXPANSION (195 hours)
MASSAGE THERAPY MODALITIES (75 hours)
- Bodywork Methods/Holistic Principles (MT 2) - 8 hours
- Sports Acupressure (MT 3) - 19 hours
- Shiatsu (MT 4) - 12 hours
- Swedish Massage for Pregnancy (MT 5) - 12 hours
- Sports Massage Technique (MT 6) - 18 hours
- Curriculum Integration for Massage Therapy (MT 7) - 6 hours
Kinesiology (K 1) - 50 hours
Business & Ethics (BP 2) - 30 hours
Clinical Pathology (CP 1) - 40 hours
Note: Coursework in the Core, Module I, will be held at the campus at which the student enrolled. The Clinic, Module II, may be completed at either campus at the student's election. The Expansion, Module III, will be held at the SW campus and when denoted also at the NW campus.
